Sci-Fi News: Star Trek TNG Patrick Stewart to have Picard back in action

Sir Patrick Stewart as Captain Picard of the Enterprise

Star Trek: The Next Generation’s Patrick Stewart to return to Star Trek Universe soon…

Shakespeare said “Parting is such sweet sorrow” or at least that’s what we had felt with the last movie “Star Trek: Nemesis” having concluded. So, after blasting Data into vapor Picard’s ,Romulan-made, clone bit the dust and put an epitaph on “The Next Generation” saga. Only to have characters and story-line nods in Star Trek Online and various extended universe comics and novels.

However, outside of the fantasy of Gene Rodenberry’s Star Trek, Patrick Stewart has been busy. Between rehabilitating dogs to voice acting roles on cartoons Sir Patrick Stewart has been doing what he does best. Not to mention going to what fan events he can and spending time with his beloved wife or pal, Ian McKellen. On one of his outtings he was caught up with by a reporter, who, got the news that “(he) may have good cause to look at it soon”.  We’ve provided the clip via Red Carpet News from Youtube:

Because of his history of being candid about his roles and outstanding humanitarian drive, Sir Stewart, has won the adoration and inspired millions. Insiders at CBS have alluded to other cast members joining. Two weeks after this revelation we can only hope for more! Will we see Q? More of the Mirror Universe from ST: Discovery? Yet another timeline? Only time will tell!

With the success of “Star Trek: Discovery” CBS and Warner Brothers have been retaining the rights and continuing with production on multiple projects. Including one on the Kelvin Timeline, the second season of Discovery on their Timeline, Mirror Universe, and the Primary Universal Timeline. Let us not forget, however, that divergent timelines are a big possibility and have been covered in the show, novels, and comics.

-UPDATE-
We are waiting on further statements from CBS/Viacom. So far beyond the statement made by Stewart we have to consider is not set in stone. Statements made by other cast members are also pending further validation. We will let you all know when we get more information! Those working directly on the project have been tied to Nondisclosure agreements. More shall be revealed in August at The Convention.

-Newest Update-
At The Convention in Vegas it was CONFIRMED that Stewart is coming back in the capacity of a live action role in a show reprising his role as Jean-Luc Picard. Our original article was originally branded as “Click Bait” and “Fake News” but due to the official validation at the convention we’ve got the word out and confirmed our sources were reliable (however, some folks didn’t want to listen to Patrick telling people he might have had a good reason to catch up).

Movie News- Star Wars: The Last Jedi Remake

Via Movieweb

Star Wars, Crowdfunding, serious business, and the intent is genuine to remake The Last Jedi…

A few days ago it came to light that some folks were trying to remake the latest Episode of Star Wars. That’s right, a little over a year since the last Episode and it’s something fans want to pile cash into for a serious remake. They’ve named their little movement “Remake the Last Jedi” on Twitter and have stated they have raised over 100 million dollars for the project so far and have their producers “Willing to fund the rest” but the front page of their website says the “Producers have not funded the film yet” sending a mixed message on what is inteded.

Remakes are more and more common. However, this is something even Rian Johnson is game for. Because of the nature of Hollywood we’ve seen Universal Pictures Remake “The Mummy” a few times and same with most of their monster movie properties. Disney, the holder of Lucasfilm’s LLC, have been remaking classically animated films into Live-Action adaptations so it wouldn’t be too far from their current modus opurondi. However, this film just came out within less than quarter of a decade and these folks aren’t even Disney looking to make it!

They’ve even had the before mentioned Rian Johnson and Seth Rogan Tweeting questions to them in addition to the author Chuck Wendig with concerns about the nature of the project and funding.
I’m very confused as to what your goal is here”, “You literally want to spend 200 million dollars remaking the last Jedi? And someone is giving you that money? I don’t get it. How did you get investors without a script or stars or director or legal ability to make this movie? Those have been important elements in the past.” -Seth Rogan
You now have over six million dollars pledged, but on June 15 you ran a poll which got 15 people. Are those 15 people giving you around $400k each? Can you introduce me to these people? I could use some cash, I’m a little light.” -Chuck Wendig

While this is all unverified in its legitimacy and neither Lucasfilm or Disney have confirmed the nature of this project (as their lawyers probably have good cause to keep things hush hush unless the giant mouse is out for blood). They’ve got an official website and claim to be producing a work that is “truer” to the idea behind Star Wars and making it “it’s own film true to the nature intended by Disney”. This is a massive undertaking and the problem with that Carrie Fisher is no longer with us thus her role would need a very good stand-in but in the shade cast by the loss of Fisher we must remember that Mark Hamill himself had said “This was not my Luke Skywalker” and “Luke would never do that (all the things he did in the film”.

The following is the official page if you want to check it out for yourself
LAST JEDI REMAKE

This is a campaign to provide Disney an opportunity to course correct with the Star Wars franchise.  The fans are completely divided and the core goal of Star Wars has been abandoned.  The goal is to not make one half of the fandom happy over the other, it is to make a film that the fandom in general as a whole enjoys.” -Remake the Last Jedi Mission Statement
The hero archetype’s of the original films is what made these so great, it made characters that everyone could relate to regardless of their background and beliefs.  No longer having this core element along with poor storytelling, has made the franchise divisive and in disarray.” -Extended Mission Statement

Various Youtube Personalities have taken to the site to give their opinion on it but as it stands, as of 6/23/2018, the jury is still out on the case of this  remake. You can check out our last Star Wars bit of news here.

Sci-Fi Movie News- More New Star Wars Movies!

Disney green-lights more movies under the Star Wars IP

You heard right, folks, 9 more New Star Wars Movies. While popularity for the Lucasfilms property has leveled out since the hype of the beginning of the new “Trilogy” the diehard fans have sent their message to Kennedy and Disney but the question now is, have they heard it? 9 movies at hundreds of millions to produce each? What are they? There are currently TV shows in the works but the primary focus from the Disney and Lucasfilms production team are the movies. We’ve only got a few names so far and some of them have been placed on a production hold:

  • Star Wars Episode 9- The Conclusion to the current “Present” story-line in Star Wars. We’ve seen 2 “Side Story” prequels and the script for Episode 9 had a LOT of the late Carrie Fisher written into it which they’ve been having to correct. We’ll see the final conclusion between our Heroes and the New Order into the old-hat devastation of every Star Wars Totalitarian Regime. Because we are not held under any kind of NDA we can honestly say “We hope Disney doesn’t do to this movie what they did to Solo!” and that’s saying enough.

  • Boba Fett (Confirmed then PUT ON HOLD)- While this property has been retconned from the original source material in the Marvel Comics of the 80s and Dark Horse in the 90s and early 2000s with the “New Movies” and the “Making it all the “Star wars Legends” executive decree, Disney, has decided that the bounty hunter that blew himself out of the Sarlacc Pit and was known across the “Old Star Wars” for being a dude who threatened to carve peoples arms and legs off to make them easier to drag around is the perfect character to make a film about with the hype generated from “Star Wars: Clone Wars” and “Star Wars: Rebels”. However due to the failing take from the Solo Movie the “Spin offs” have been placed on hold.

  • Obi Wan Kenobi (Working Title PUT ON HOLD)- There were things alluded to in “Shadows of the Empire” a now defunct Midquel work that took place between “Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi”. In addition there were various other media that went over the “History of Obi Wan” which was later rendered non-canon. However, we’ve been given quite a bit of history and character development in the “Clone Wars” and “Rebels” show. With this consideration at hand as mentioned with Boba Fett “Spin offs” and “Star Wars Stories” have been put on hold.

  • Thrawn- While the book is out on Thrawn and the works of Timothy Zahn are also out there for the Legends timeline there were stirrings on a fan favorite villain, Grand Admiral Thrawn. Since his defeat at the end of Rebels the writers alluded to the character being “not dead yet” in an unseen narrative. Because of the nature of the open cliffhanger on “What happened to Thrawn” this would have to have been one of the “Star Wars Story” films that have been officially put on the back burner before it ever got to simmer.

  • A New Trilogy- That’s right, when you thought Episode 9 would be the conclusion you might have been wrong. The new series by director Rian Johnson films will most likely be followed by David Benioffand and D.B. Weiss as per the contract information leaked by a Disney/Lucasfilm Employee. What’s been alluded is the reapplication of content from the Legacy universe into a more modern adaptation to the current or “Modern” incarnation of Star Wars. We don’t know exactly what that will allude to exactly but there are hundreds of works to select from.
How was this never made into a movie?

Via Rolling Stone

Everything else at this point is conjecture. We can only hope that the message got to Kathleen Kennedy after Solo. Will the direction continue down that of a very loud minority of viewers who’ve never owned more than 4 Lucas Arts video-games at one time and a whole shelf of Micro Machine replicas, novels and comics or will it be made for the general audience and fans? Only time will tell at this point and we can only hope that our Prince Xizor memorabilia gets the canon treatment it deserves. Then again, we’ve not seen a “Monkey Island” movie either despite the witty and silliness of that property going quietly into the night.

*UPDATE*
Yes, we may have also had a “Yoda”, “Darth Maul” AND a “Prince of the Black Sun” however those ideas are currently being set aside or scrapped. All things considered it’s good Disney is putting things on hold so they can run damage control on their rampant property. Maybe, with this, they will get back on track!
